Summary

The Avidyne Manufacturing Engineering Team is a small, multidisciplinary, tight-knit group of Engineers who work together collaboratively to provide solutions to a wide range of production and sustaining engineering projects. As part of this team the EE is responsible for lifecycle support of existing, certified Avionics systems. Goals of the position include cost reduction, obsolescence management, process improvement, design optimization, support of the SMT line and Avidyne’s Just In Time (JIT) manufacturing model. Typical tasks include component engineering, troubleshooting, limited system re-design, PCB board spins, PCB panel optimization, electrical simulation, analysis, validation, and report generation for all lifecycle changes. The ideal candidate will have a wide breadth of knowledge and be comfortable applying their skills across a wide range of applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Obsolescence Management and Component Engineering
  • Bill of Material cost reduction
  • Validation of lifecycle changes by analysis, simulation and/or testing
  • Validation report writing and ECO generation for lifecycle changes
  • Planning and execution of DFM and cost reduction initiatives
  • PCB Re-spin planning and execution to support lifecycle changes, and SMT optimization
  • Optimization of board level programming processes and equipment
  • Electrical test fixture design and layout
  • Troubleshooting of SMT and manufacturing electrical issues
  • Other electrical engineering tasks as required to support production and SMT
  • Work closely with quality, manufacturing, and test engineering to maintain robust, producible, testable, and cost effective products
  • Update requirements, specifications, and verification tests for all system hardware

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Strong familiarity with design of digital circuits, microprocessor circuits, memory, high speed serial busses, power supplies, programmable logic and mixed signal circuits
  • Extensive experience with PCB layout practices and tools
  • Experience with common bus protocols (SPI, RS-232, ARINC-429, USB, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Expertise in component selection and replacement
  • Familiarity with digital and mixed signal test equipment
  • Experience with environmental tests including: temperature, vibration, and altitude
    Desired:
  • BSEE with a minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering
  • A wide breadth of Electrical Engineering knowledge and experience
  • Experience in the design of high reliability, safety critical equipment (military, avionics, clinical-medical or similar devices)
  • Electrical-CAD expertise including schematic capture and layout in Altium or similar tool suite
  • Knowledge of military and/or commercial avionics standards and development processes (such as Mil-Std-410 or DO-178, DO-254)
  • Familiarity with Environmental Testing (such as MIL-STD-810 or DO-160).
  • Familiarity with digital, analog, and RF filters, transmitters, receivers, and software defined radios
