MLB700 - SIRIUS NetworkSatellite OrbitsSIRIUS uses three geosynchronous satellites:
The satellites fly in a highly elliptical orbit in a 24-hour orbital peroid. Two satellites are always over US airspace. One satellite is always at >60° elevation, which provides greater signal availability. The primary uplink is located in Vernon, New Jersey.
The shaded red area shows the extended signal coverage of the SIRIUS Satellite Network (compared with blue border showing XM coverage area). Red Dots show METAR reporting points. SIRIUS has much better Caribbean coverage, including Puerto Rico. To activate your SIRIUS radio, call 1.888.539.SIRIUS (7474)
