Avidyne Expands Sales Team to Accelerate Industry-Leading Growth
Global demand for ADS-B and connectivity solutions continue to drive growth.
Melbourne, FL – Friday, April 1, 2016 –
Avidyne Corporation announced four significant additions to their sales and marketing team to accommodate growth and increasing market demand for their full line of communication, navigation, surveillance, and connectivity products and services.
“Avidyne is excited with the prospects for growth and these key additions to the leadership and sales teams serve to strengthen our market position and sales reach,” said Dan Schwinn, Avidyne’s President & CEO. “Avidyne’s new products resulted in 40% year-over-year growth from 2014 to 2015,while our chief competitors have reported flat-to-lower sales and into what industry analysts have characterized as a soft market.”
“We see plenty of opportunities in the OEM and international markets, and with the addition of our direct sales team, we are augmenting the sales efforts of our top-tier aftermarket dealers, while providing significant sales support for a large number of smaller shops looking to expand their business,” Schwinn said.
Mitch Biggs joins Avidyne as Vice President of Sales & Marketing, responsible for all facets of direct sales, channel sales, marketing, and brand positioning, as well as overseeing the technical support and customer service teams. Following a 14+ year Air Force career as a pilot and officer flying F-15s, Biggs has held various sales and leadership roles in the consumer electronics and medical device industry. Biggs previously owned and flew a Lake Buccaneer sea plane and has been an active contributing editor to Aviation Digest magazine.
“Mitch is an aviation enthusiast who brings a wealth of experience in electronics retail sales and as a pilot, and we welcome him to the leadership team,” Schwinn stated.
Ed Paulsen joins Avidyne as Vice President of Business Development, responsible for Avidyne’s OEM business, in-flight connectivity solutions, and strategic partnerships. Paulsen has held numerous business development, marketing, and engineering management positions in the global semiconductor industry, including VP of Business Development at Test Evolution, Aeroflex, and Teradyne. He holds a BSEE from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and is a licensed private pilot.
“Ed brings extensive business development, marketing and product management experience, as well as being a highly successful leader in developing strategic partnerships & OEMs in the international arena,” said Schwinn.
Steve Gubbins has joined Avidyne as Manager of International Aftermarket Sales. Based in the United Kingdom, Gubbins oversees Avidyne’s direct and channel sales operations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Gubbins has held numerous sales and sales leadership positions including 17 years with Garmin, where he was instrumental in their expansion into the European avionics market in the early 1990s. Gubbins is a licensed Private Pilot with Instrument, Commercial, CFI and CFII ratings.
“We are pleased to have Steve Gubbins join Avidyne to head up our International sales initiatives,” said Schwinn. “Steve is highly experienced in avionics sales and marketing, and is well known and respected throughout the international dealer community.”
Brian Oliver has been promoted to Manager of Direct Sales, leading a growing team of inside sales associates who will drive outbound initiatives directly to end customers and aircraft owners looking for NextGen avionics to meet the coming ADS-B mandate. Oliver joined Avidyne in 2013 as an IFD Sales Specialist and was most recently a Regional Sales Manager. Oliver has over 25 years of sales and customer service experience, is a licensed Private Pilot, and has an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
