The Director of Sales is responsible for establishing and managing the company’s North American sales team and Authorized Dealer Network. This position requires directly managing the company’s relationship with its top dealers (National Accounts) as well as management of the sales team located in Melbourne and in the field. It includes direct sales to end customers, assisted sales to end customers with dealer participation, and dealer sales to end customers.

The Director of Sales will have primary responsibility for finding and opening new channels for the company’s products, including identifying target markets, defining product requirements for those markets, creating relationship with key dealers and other market participants in those markets, and growing Avidyne’ s revenue in these new markets.

The Director of Sales is responsible for managing the company’s sales activity to attain the company’s quarterly and annual revenue targets. This person will serve as a key member of the sales management team and help influence and shape the strategic direction of Avidyne.

The Director of Sales will have access to company aircraft for travel to and demonstration of the company’s products to dealers and end customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses current team and activities and enhances to meet sales needs
  • Recruits, trains and motivates top notch salespeople
  • Sets top-level goals for the sales team, including, but not limited to, sales dollar targets, commission plans and expense budgets.
  • Develops sales team and provides training/development programs to sales team
  • Responsible for developing, planning, and implementing the company’s strategic sales plan. 
  • Defines and manages process of taking marketing qualified leads and managing them through the CRM and inside sales team to closing
  • Provides reporting on progress vs. goals, detailed information on dealer activities, status of leads etc.
  • Generates sales analysis to provide future growth targets and potential.
  • Manages and grows the product ASP and product combinations and promotions to maximize margins
  • Monitors competitive threats; leads competitive analysis; communicates competitive marketplace strategies.
  • Develop excellent, positive working relationship with customers, internal and external stakeholders to ensure targets are achieved
  • Direct management of company’s top dealers and owners of key accounts
  • Develops the company’s dealer training and engagement plan to improve market share in the channel. 
  • Responsible for the productivity and effectiveness of the sales team
  • Utilize the company Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and ensures that it is the key tool for managing sales.
  • Develops both the short-term and long-term sales plans; including individual salesperson targets.
  • Collaborates with engineering department in the development of new products and timing of announcements
  • Coordinates key activities between sales department and other functional. departments such as marketing, engineering, operations, finance and human resources.

Skills and Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train and motivate both inside and filed salespeople
  • Experience managing territory sales teams
  • Knowledge and experience with independent dealer management
  • Ability to develop dealer incentive plans
  • Experience with creating customer promotions to drive sales
  • Experience with territory management plane
  • Experience with sales lead development using CRM systems
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
  • Strong presentation skills

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • Bachelor degree.  In Lieu of Bachelor’s Degree, ten (10) years of related Avionics Sales experience will be considered 
  • Instrument rated pilot
  • Must possess a current valid license with recent flying experience
  • Commercial or CFI license preferred

Experience:

  • 7+ years aviation sales experience (not aircraft sales); customer support and program management preferred.
  • 7+ years in direct B2B solution/consultative selling experience in the Aviation Industry.
  • 7+ years management experience defining, mentoring and growing a productive sales team.
  • 7+ years account management experience on a regional or national level.

Travel:

  • Domestic travel of approximately 50% per year
